Why would they be worried about spoiling the show since I thought this spin off show was for hardcore fans who watch the internet feed... I think a good spin off show would be one that maybe shows more of the everyday happenings of the house and personal relationships outside of gameplay not to say that some gamplay moment shouldn't be included but just less emphasis... and then throw in the talk show elememt with phone ins and text messages... sort of like Big Brothers Little Brother in the UK and the daily show format from BB1. I think a spin off show would work well on CW durring the daytime hours... they can still keep all the gameplay and drama for the CBS show but edit the other moments for the CW hour long talk-show/daily show. I think it would be easier for them to get sposors if the show actually aired on a network rather than the internet... I even think they could keep the name Big Brothers Little Brother... they just need to find a dynamic host for it... any time I watched Gretchen was a snore! Here's a clip of BBLB just so you can get a feel for it: Last edited by kingston : 05-26-2009 at 07:35 PM. |

Hell, internet radio shows are more interesting than HC was and they're fans like you and me LOL In fact, you and I could put on a live daily show, where people can call/webcam in and it would probably have more success. haha

Actually in all fairness, BBLB features various guests, ex-housemates, interviews with the main host, etc. House Calls was just Gretchen and daily ex-houseguest talking about the previous show and consistent phone calls with few emails.
Maybe if it was formatted more like BBLB and aired on The CW or CBS daytime with a simulcast on the internet (for people at work) it could work better/get more viewers. (Although I rule out The CW since BB is targeted to 18-49 year olds not exclusively women in 18-34) |

I never actually saw footage from the house on Housecalls... maybe the odd live shot but nothing to the extent I'm seeing... Housecalls cannot be compaired to BBLB in anyway but it is loosly based on the same format... An internet simal cast would work great for the CW BBLB... Woman may be the CW's main demographic but with the addition of a BB spin-off it would allow CW to diversify itself durring the day time summer time period... I'd like BBLB to focus more on guests and ex HM's as well as at least %50 of the show dedicated to new or extended footage from the house... I always found the Callers on HC to be very low caliber and almost trailer tash like... I'd like them to have a live audience maybe and then a few select callers and emails... A rolling text message chat at teh bottom of the screen durring the show would take in a pretty penny as well as some on air advertisers and segment sponsors... MUCH Better than a simple online show... Who would you want to host said show??? I'm thinking a male maybe with a background in Comedy... |

Meh, don't care.
Gretchen never knew what the Hell was going on anyways.

I don't think I have watched since the first year it was on so I won't miss it. I never liked it anyway.

I wasn't terribly disappointed by this news. As Hevnlee stated, it was something to watch to get me through my lunch.
The show also deteriorated in quality year after year, IMO. They used to talk about the feeds and what was going on and by last season, NEVER talked about the feeds so you would be watching a live HC episode and they were talking about what was aired the previous night... and all us live feed viewers wanted to talk about the NOW. In any case, we still have our little show and will continue to talk about the feeds as they are happening... and we don't mind the F-bomb here or there either. LOL |

It's an unpopular opinion but I think the show went downhill when Marcellas left. He actually had opinions about the show and watched it. I'm sure some others did too, like maybe Dick. But the majority had no clue what was going on. Maybe some other internet show/podcast/etc. can take up the slack.

The problem was that House Calls wasn't for the fans...except it was supposed to be because who else would bother watching it? Certainly not the casual viewer.
It failed because they had Gretchen, who is a nice enough person but largely ignorant of the show and its current events in particular, and because they insisted on laying off the so-called "spoilers" when to the serious viewer, they weren't spoilers at all. A BB companion show is an excellent idea, and a chief reason is because events go on 24/7. A companion show only has a purpose if current events in the house are discussed--and discussed by people who are actually into the show and have thoughtful opinions about it. But they find a lot of ways to screw up BB as if the producers don't even understand why people really like it in the first place--they're too busy catering to the disinterested, casual viewer. |
